What crystals are safe for water?

Cleansing crystals with water is a powerful way to energetically cleanse them. However some crystals are damaged by water or release harmful toxins when submerged they same way some will fade and crack in the sunlight. So below we wanted to share some info to help you decide which of your crystals are safe for use with water.

Any crystal that is rated 5 or below on the Mohs Hardness Scale should not be put in water. These crystals can crack and dissolve if left in water. There are also some hard crystals (above 5) that are considered unsafe for water; typically any crystal that contains minerals that can rust or release toxins in water.

What is Mohs Hardness Scale?

The Mohs Hardness Scale is a scale that ranges from 1-10 and each mineral is ranked based of the hardness of the certian minerals it contains. The harder the mineral, the higher on Mohs Scale it would be. The softer the mineral is the more likely it will be damaged by water. Any crytal that falls between a 1 and a 5 will be the most water sensitive.
